Same Old Frisco 6/29/2015

Wish I could say something ridiculously incredible happened this week but it was pretty chill. We got to teach a new investigator in the Frisco 6th Ward. He's in his teens and he was friendshiped by the
young men in the ward. He asked them tons of questions while they were on their scout camp High Adventure. He seems really interested. He has a lot of support from his friends but not so much from his family. So it will be a long journey for him but it looks like one that he is willing to take on.

The work is going well in the Young Single Adult Branch. Even though we just got dropped by one of our investigators, Sister Awerkamp and I are not deterred from teaching and inviting as many people possible to come closer to Christ.

Also I would just like to say that I agree with what The Church's stand on the Supreme Court's decision on marriage and how even though our country's law may have changed this past week yet it does not change God's doctrine that has been given to us and I know that it will never change.

I'm glad I get to understand the importance of the gospel as it plays a role central to the happiness of family everywhere.

Love,

Sister Baker

Temples & Offroading 6/22/2015

We had the opportunity to go to visit the Temple grounds with our recent convert and it was wonderful. We also had a non member come with us and we felt like we are making progress to help that part member family out.
We also had more opportunities to serve in the Frisco 6th Ward and they have been great finding activities. We received a referral from it and we set a time to meet with them this week. Feels like Sister Awerkamp and I have been doing great to work together and I've never been more unified with her.

We went mudding this morning when the GPS took us to a dirt rode that magically ended and we went through mud!

Sorry I have to keep things short but I'll make it up to you with pictures :)

I love y'all have a wonderful week.

Love,
Sister Baker

Disciples in an Age of Technology

Guess what the Missionaries of the Texas Dallas Mission just received
this past week....

Hint:
Sent from my iPad

iPads! We now have amazing tools that will help hasten the Lord's work! I love having the opportunity to serve a mission during this momentous point of history when we get to be disciples in a technological age and it is good!

We received cases for our iPads and they seem durable enough to last any missionary through their mission and I love getting to email from our place we live and getting to save time as well in that we get to read email when they are sent to us. Monday's will still be the only days that we can reply back, just so you know.

I love the Gospel Library app! It has so many options and source that will help us in our work.

I received mine as well as all the other missionaries serving in my area. They made sure without a shadow of a doubt that we knew the safeguards given to protect us from using the devices inappropriately. I know that the iPads will continue to be great tools and will be an amazing stepping stone in missionary work.

Getting iPads was the highlight of the week and setting a baptismal date for one of our investigators in the YSA Branch.

I love the tools God has given us to use for the good of man-kind in bringing them closer to Christ.

I love all of you! Have a fantastic week!

Six More Weeks In Frisco 6/8/15

I'm so glad I get to stay companions with Sister Awerkamp and that I get to stay in the Frisco 6th Ward and the Frisco Young Single Adult Branch. I have loved getting to serve here for the past 6 weeks and I look forward to keep serving here for another 6 weeks. I LOVE FRISCO!

We had a baptism on Saturday for Nick and it went well. His sister, who was a member of the church from the start, came and supported him as well as his brothers-in-law. It was a beautiful experience. The Elders in our area came and sang "Called to Serve". My companion and I also performed "Where Can I turn for Peace". The whole program was great!

I love getting to be a missionary and I just hope that I can serve the Lord with all my heart, might, mind, and strength.

Loving the Work!

Nick's on the left and Tylar is on the right (Tylar has only been a member of the Church for a little over a year. This was the first baptism he was able to perform!)

The Strong Young Agents of God 6/1/2015

The Young Single Adults Branch are amazing at being missionary minded and inviting their friends to church. Sister Awerkamp and I love being here. We love being companions. I've never participated in such astonishing missionary work before.

The YSA branch is so on fire as we now have 5 total people who are investigators, 4 of which are progressing and yesterday a YSA brought his friend to church and he wants to find out more, which now makes 6 investigators total!

One of our investigators, Nick, is getting baptized this Saturday and he is has been getting prepared and is ready. We are so excited for him and will make sure he has all that he needs when he becomes a member of Christ's true Church.

I feel like Sister Awerkamp and I will do even more astonishing missionary work if we stay at least one more transfer (6 weeks) together. I know if the Lord wants me or Sister Awerkamp to go to a different part of Dallas then we will, but we feel impressed that we should stay. I'll let you know more if I get transferred to a new area or not.

Last week we participated in a 5K Run as a mission! All the missionaries got together and we had a fun time!

We also got our first training for when we all get Ipads!! Seeing that I have less than 6 months left I will probably be loaned an Ipad so I might not have to pay for my own. Which will be nice :)

Don't forget to pray at least twice a day and read your scriptures at least once a day, that way you get the blessings and answers you need from God and you get spiritually nourished and directed as well! Its called the 21 system. If you read once a day and pray twice a day that equals 3 and is you do it everyday for a whole week then you reach 21. It makes it easier to remember that way and you can see your progress as you check more consistently.

I love you all so much and thanks for being great examples to me one way or another, because I always try to learn something new from everyone I meet.

Love,

 Sister Baker

My companion and I and our District Leader got matching shorts for the 5K Run.

Also celebrated our investigator Nick's 19th Birthday :)

and the rain finally stopped! with not a moment to spare.
