There's Snow Place Like Texas 3/2/2015

This week was slow with the weather and snow. Yet many good things came from it, especially on the subject of family history. We stayed at a part member family's home for a few hours waiting out the snow and because that is the only way we have been gaining a connection with that family. I showed the wife, a non member, familysearch.org and she was absorbed by it from the start. Then through her husband's account (he being a member) she was able to access Ancestry.com and her interest sky rocketed from there. She sat there for the rest of the day doing family history work!  She was enthralled and loved it so much. Through that she was able to come closer to her past and wanted to share it with her future generations.

Her son is the one that just got baptized and we know she felt the Spirit at the baptism. I may not get the chance to be here when she finally comes to a decision to be baptized, but I know that she does love the fruits of this church, because she was smiling every time she found another person to add to her family.

Another awesome way Family History helped us in our work was with a part member family that is amazing! The couple met at Disney World, and he was in the marines. He is hilarious and very kind. He isn't a member but they don't let that get in the way of being happy and good parents. We showed him the Mormon message "What I Found".  He was able to relate to it because of his family's military history and it seemed to bring family history in a positive light in their family. He talked about how he had kept a good journal while serving in the marines and one of his kids "said I want to read it!" It just made me happy to see how much the hearts of the children are turning to their fathers (Malachi 4:6).

Special thanks to Sister Burnham! I got your postcard and it brought Thanks for letting me know about my friends upcoming wedding!  I can't believe Alivia's getting married! Tell her I said I love her and thanks for being an example of loving to serve God with all her heart, might, mind, and strength. She helped me to realize that their is no greater call then serving a mission as a sister.  :)

Until next time. I love you all and I hope that you continue to look for the day to day miracles because....HEAVENLY FATHER LOVES Y'ALL!

Love,

Sister Baker
